indicated the only drop in Glenwood Springs'
population ever recorded.
1932
Citizen's National Bank closed into receivership.
1933
State Employment Office opens. 108 applicants
show up the first day.
1933, Dec. 5 Prohibition
repealed and bars opened in hotels and
restaurants.
1934
Civilian Conservation Corps camp was set up for 240 men who worked on
roads in the White River National Forest, cleared brush for a
ski area on Lookout Mountain and built the Glenwood Springs
Municipal Airport, among other projects. Camp
located where Sayre Park is now.
1934 Red
Mountain Ski Area established.
1934 The
Grand Hotel on the corner of 8th and Cooper was
demolished.
1936 Construction
begins on the Glenwood Springs Municipal Airport
