1920, Jan.1
Prohibition came to Glenwood Springs with the 18th Amendment and closed the many saloons and houses of prostitution.

1923
The Grand River was officially renamed the Colorado River.

1924
The City of Glenwood Springs purchased Hanging Lake and the surrounding 700 acres of White River National Forest for use as a city park.

1924
The City of Glenwood Springs purchased the Rosebud Cemetery property from the Bailer family.

1925, Sept. 17
The first wireless radio broadcast went over the phone lines from Glenwood Springs to Denver.

1926
Silent film star, Tom Mix arrives in Glenwood Springs to film "The Great K & A Train Robbery" in Glenwood Canyon.

 

1928
The Glenwood Post newspaper absorbed the Avalanche Echo newspaper.

1929
The first road paving began in Glenwood Springs with the paving of Grand Avenue which was completed in 1930.

1929
The Garfield County courthouse was completed.
